Shimba Hills National Reserve Day Trip

Shimba Hills National Reserve Day Trip

Shimba Hills National Reserve Day Trip, Kenya has many beautiful beaches, and Diani Beach is one of them. Still, you’re in the best place in the world to see wildlife, so why not make the most of it? The coastal jungle near your Diani resort is only 30 km (18 mi) away and is home to elephants, antelope, and even leopards.

You can join a magical world at Shimba Hills National Reserve, complete with cool ocean breezes, waterfalls, animals, birds, and butterflies. And elephants—the reserve has almost the biggest number of elephants per square mile in Kenya. You will also want to see cows, zebras, gazelles, and Masai giraffes.

Just a short hop from your resort’s warm beach, you could be hiking through the mists in the morning and meet monkeys, baboons, and bushy-tailed mongooses!

Find Your Thrill at Elephant Hill

Since it lives up to its name, the Hill is a great spot to see the area and its healthy elephant population. From there, you can see the reserve’s big valley and, off in the distance, the ocean.

Sheldrick Falls

It’s easy, cool, and fun to play Shimba. If you take a short, calm walk through the jungle, you’ll find these beautiful falls. When the falls are full, they are 21 meters (60 feet) high and make thick mists that feed the vines and lush plants that grow on its sides. This is a great place to have a lunch, swim, or just hang out.

This is a rare sable antelope.

This is the only place in Kenya where you can see these beautiful animals. Look for their unique horns with rings around them. They use these to protect themselves and show who is in charge. Bigger males have been known to fight lions and leopards to protect their flocks.

Safari to the Shimba Hills Reserve in time

Get ready to leave your lodge on Diani Beach at 7 a.m. for the short trip to the reserve. Your Safari Trips to Kenya guide will come pick you up in a private 4×4 Jeep.

We’ll go to the park in the morning for a game drive where we can look for antelope, elephant, giraffe, civet cat, monkey, mongoose, and other animals. Lions and leopards are sometimes seen.

About 100 different kinds of birds live in the park. Birds like the ostrich, eagle, and hawk are easy to spot. Enjoy the more than 300 different kinds of butterflies as they flutter around in a lively show.

The park is small, and you can easily walk through some parts of it. For example, it only takes thirty minutes to walk to the base of the beautiful Sheldrick Falls.

The lunch break is coming up soon. We’ll take a break at Shimba Hills Green Safari Lodge to eat and enjoy the view.

We’ll spend the rest of the afternoon visiting this lovely park. Around midday, we’ll go back to the beach.

The Shimba Hills National Park is more of a natural adventure than a place to go to see animals.
