1 Day Nairobi National Park & City Tour Excursion
1 Day Nairobi National Park & City Tour Excursion, In one exciting day, you’ll see and do everything that Africa has to offer. There are wild animals just minutes from the city in Nairobi National Park. You can also hop over to a nearby park to see baby elephants. Being fed through big bottles!
Next, we’ll show you some more animal Instagram fun: a giraffe shelter where people have been known to get a fresh kiss from a huge giraffe.
You may have heard of the famous author Karen Blixen, who wrote “Out of Africa.” We will see her house and the farm that became famous all over the world.
Then you can become part of the neighborhood community at Kazuri Beads, where you can see the colorful work of local women who are making a new life for themselves.
This is the best part of traveling: a day full of wonders and new people to meet. We’ll get going early. At 6:30 am, Safari Trips to Kenya will pick you up in a private safari car. A few minutes from the city, we’ll land at what might be the most interesting national park in the world. You won’t even have time to finish your coffee yet.
Nairobi National Park
This is the only national park that is like it. Imagine that there are lions, leopards, buffalo, and rhinos living in close proximity to a world-class capital city. These animals have been moving freely for thousands of years. It’s crazy that you’ll be taking pictures of giraffes with buildings in the background.
We’ll be looking for impala, zebra, ostrich, and many other animals not far from the city. The zebra and wildebeest migration happens every year along this stretch of old fields. This is an ancient movement of thousands of animals.
Don’t miss the Ivory Burning Monument, where Kenya’s leaders burned illegally obtained ivory as a dramatic act of protest against elephant hunting.
Make some friends.
A group trip is a fun way to meet other people who love safaris and like to take risks. Put up pictures and tell stories. You might even find new parks to visit together. We can set up other group tours for you in any of the great national wildlife areas across the country.
Elephant Orphanage in Sheldrick
When you post close-up photos of baby elephants drinking from big baby bottles, your Instagram feed will go crazy! Saved babies are cared for here at the Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage until they are healthy enough to go back to their home countries.
When we get here at 11 a.m., feeding time, you’ll be able to see this incredibly cute show: workers take turns feeding their “babies” from a bottle. If we have time, we’ll stay to watch these giant small-fry splash around in their daily mud baths!
Check Out Your Ride
You will go on a safari in Kenya, Africa, in a custom-made 4×4 Safari Jeep with a pop-top roof. There is a full menu at the Karen Blixen Coffee Garden, which is an old manor house with 5 ½ acres of old trees and beautiful grounds. The atmosphere is African-style and old-fashioned.
Or, if you’re a meat lover, you can satisfy your hunger at the famous Carnivore Restaurant in Nairobi. This one-of-a-kind restaurant serves ostrich and crocodile meat, as well as beef, pork, lamb, and chicken.
Museum of Karen Blixen
Have you seen the movie or read the book that it was based on? The author was Isak Dinesen, whose real name is Karen Blixen and who writes, farms, goes on adventures, and is a culture icon. Blixen called her home on a colonial plantation Mbogani, which means “house in the woods.”
Next, we will go to this early 20th-century house that is now a museum about her amazing life in Africa at that time. A lot of things from Blixen’s life can be seen at the site of her coffee farm. There are even props from the famous movie with Robert Redford and Meryl Streep.
Giraffe Park
Are you familiar with getting close to a friendly giant? You can at the Giraffe Center, a non-profit that gives the rare Rothschild’s Giraffe a safe place to live. As you climb the stage, hold out the food pellets that the tall animals love. A giraffe might kiss you!
When you stand among these giants, you’ll also see a lot of Kenyan students. Every year, tens of thousands of curious kids and their teachers come to the Center. Enjoy the nature walk here, and don’t forget to stop at the tea house for a break and to watch more giraffes.
Kazuri Beads
Kazuri in Swahili means “small and beautiful.” At this life-changing group, you’ll see a world of small, beautiful beads being made right in front of you. Kazuri Beads was created to give single moms more power. It does this by teaching these women the art skills they need to make a living and become self-sufficient.
You can finish off our culturally rich day with a stop to the gift shop, where you can pick out treasures from this rainbow of handmade goods.
Our full day in Nairobi will make you want to see more of Africa. We saw wild animals, baby elephants, huge giraffes, African icons, and the self-determined future of local communities. It’s over around 6 p.m., and we’ll take you back to your hotel, the airport, or any other place you choose.
