The Fabulous Kenya Coast

The Fabulous Kenya Coast

The Fabulous Kenya Coast, What could be more fun than a tour in Kenya? On that special trip, and then ending up on the beautiful coast of Kenya. A lot of people who go on safari don’t know that Kenya has a beautiful 1420 km (882 mi) shoreline that meets the Indian Ocean. Or that its beaches are clean, not crowded with tourists, and hug the warm blue waves, which are home to coral and sea life of many colors. But more explorers are finding this sparkling addition to their safari. They can enjoy world-class SCUBA diving and snorkeling, trips to nearby marine reserves, and a stylish nightlife and shopping scene with shops from around the world.

In Mombasa, Kenya’s second-largest city, you can spend the day at the beach and the nights at restaurants, clubs, or on a real dhow for a sunset dinner cruise. The Old Town of the city is a lovely maze of narrow streets and bazaars filled with exotic goods and spices that have been influenced by Arab, Portuguese, and Swahili cultures.

Kenya’s Sarova Whitesands Beach Resort and Spa Safaris in Kenya

The beaches in Mombasa are a great place to unwind after a long, dusty trek. When the first camel goes by while you’re lying there in the sand, you might look twice. But soon, more of these common Mombasa sights will be on the beach together. Enjoy the moment by riding a camel while you take a deep breath of the sea air and watch the waves crash on the shore. But only in Mombasa!

Not far from Mombasa, there is a long, empty beach with golden sands that are edged by the ocean on one side and a carpet of grass on the other. Three times, this beach, Diani Beach, has been named the best in Africa.

When you see how clean, empty, and easy-to-wade Diani is, you’ll quickly see why it’s so popular. The beach area has a cute, cozy feel because even the low-rise hotels are set back.

On the calm ocean, you can swim, fish, parasail, dive, and even jet ski. This is the kind of stylish shopping and dining scene you’d find in a high-class tourist area.

Town of Lamu

Go up the coast to Lamu Town if you want to get to the heart of Kenya’s seaside scene, where Swahili influences are still strong and famous people from around the world are often seen. The old town is on Lamu Island, 341 km (212 mi) north of Mombasa. It is a lively mix of Turkish, Portuguese, Arab, and Swahili cultures.

As you walk through Lamu’s narrow alleys, you’ll have to make room for the donkey packs that walk by. They are the main way to get around this ancient area.

This coastal town is full of shops, restaurants, and fun things to do, like watching dhows sail from the harbor. It is on the UN World Heritage List as “the oldest and best-preserved Swahili settlement in East Africa.”
