The scenery in Ol Pejeta

Wildlife diversity isn’t the only thing that draws people to Ol Pejeta; the landscape has a lot of different habitats where the amazing range of animals live. You will be going through these wild areas on your safari.

Giraffe, monkey, baboon, impala, gazelle, zebra, hippo, and hyena will also be in these areas during your safari. While you look up at the trees, the sanctuary’s 300 bird types will keep you entertained with their bright colors and busy lives. In the background, Mt. Kenya, which is very tall, frames all of this beautiful wildlife.

Highlights of Safari

The Sweetwaters Chimpanzee Sanctuary is the only place in Kenya where you can see chimps living in a mostly natural setting. The 40 or so orphaned chimps sleep in big cages, but they’re free during the day to explore, groom each other, and even walk along paths. A lot of fun!

Endangered Species Enclosure: Ol Pejeta is also a safe place for the last two northern white rhinos and black rhinos. People can go on game drives in the enclosure area, which is big enough to keep rhinos safe from thieves. Another rare animal that lives here is the Grevy’s zebra. You can also see Jackson’s hartebeest and oryx.

National Parks: Most of the time, you can’t go on a night safari. However, Ol Pejeta is a private area that lets you do this. For some reason, going on a game drive at night is exciting. The land seems to be waiting for something. Find the aardvark, fox, and leopard eyes that are shining back at you.

Cycling Safari: Do something different: ride your bike past animals that are feeding while you enjoy the view of the rolling landscape. For lunch, the cycling safari goes to Big Rock and lasts all day. The path is 42 km (26 mi). There is even some easy rock climbing in it.

Horseback Safari: Riding through the area on a safari horse is the best way to have fun and show off your skills. In two hours, the ride will take you through the area with the white rhinos and out to the Ol Pejeta fields. Being on top of an animal is the best way to get close to wildlife.
